Knowing body parts and health words is important in everyday life. Here are the most common words:
The body

| arm / armer | /arm/ | Jeg brakk armen. — I broke my arm. |
| hånd / hender | /hon/ | Vask hendene dine! — Wash your hands! |

Health problems

| forkjølelse — cold | Jeg er forkjølet. — I have a cold. |
| influensa — flu | Jeg har influensa. — I have the flu. |

| kvalme — nausea | Jeg er kvalm. — I feel nauseous. |
Important numbers
Call 113 for life-threatening emergencies. Call 116117 for the out-of-hours GP service (legevakt). In Norwegian we say "Jeg har vondt i..." to describe pain — literally "I have pain in..."
